Magnetic drain bolt and weld in bung for Trans...

Looking for a supplier where I can order a Magnetic drain bolt and weld in bung for Transmission pan... Any ideas where I can order one? and is there an optimal location to place on in the pan?

If my fading memory serves me correct this time I got my weld in plug at Advance Auto. I put mine near the rear so it would be downhill when the truck is up on the ramps. You just have to check and make sure it will not interfere with any thing.

LOL

I will check with advance auto. I'm guessing you are using a copper crush washer as well?

There is also a plug you can install w/out welding....think i bought mine at autozone. I have an old speaker magnet stuck to the bottom of my pan to hold any metal. Set up has worked well for several years.

I have always wondered why auto pans don't have drain plugs and you have to make a holy mess when draining them and changin filters......

So in thinking about it you are supposed to adjust your tranny bands every oil change right? So the pan needs to be pulled anyway. So a drain plug would be nice but a magnet inside the pan stuck to the bottom would work just fine for sucking up them pesky particles of ferrous metals. Think a drain plug still would making changing the oil pan cleaner in the long run.

i bought a drain plug (not weld on) and magnets from geno's garage..works well, but use teflon tape for the drain plug bolt...had a very small drip. I don't think you should adjust bands unless you know what you are doing.( I read that numerous times)

I do know I would have changed my auto trans fluid more often had it been easier to drain....

Never had bands adjusted on any I had ever owned, oh well.....

Use the yellow teflon tape for gas lines, the oil in the fluids won't degrade it.

Dont know but the owners manual says to and adjust the bands every time you change the tranny oil. I cant see where it should be too big of deal. couple of wrenches and a torque wrench that reads inch pounds and it looks to be very simple to me? Drain bolt is in the near future for it though! Thanks guys for your input...
