Bilstein Vs Monroe?

Looking for some feed back,

Got a 2003 3500, running BFG 285 A/T. My shocks are pretty much toast.

I was heading for Bilsteins (5100) but I have heard that the monroes (gas magnums)are comparible if not better and are less money. The piston rod on the Monroe is 5/8 inch and I have been told the bilstein is only 3/8 inch.

Curious which ones I should go with, want something that going to give me a nice ride and last for a while. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Does anyone have the specs on the rod dimension on the Bilsteins, 3/8 was speculation?

I have some friends that run the Monroe Reflex with good results.

I looked into this too. I am going to go with the monroes reflex. The blistiens seem to be a better shock, but I don't plan on keeping the truck long enough to justify the extra (2X's the $$$) expense. I'm waiting for the guys to start racking up the miles on those 07's with the 6.7 and the 6 speed auto. Once all the new product bugs are worked out, I'm gonna order one...

Ok, here's my input. I like Bilsteins but I bought Ranchos last year when they were on sale.

Just bought Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks, $243.00 + free shipping. 4 for the price of 3. That made up my mind over Bilstiens.

I bought Bilstien's 5100 would had thought finishes on them would had l lasted longer then they did. Not even 6 months old! They have little black spots all over them and will not clean off!
Great riding shock! Will not buy again for finish reason! Not worth the money!

That is why I bought Donahoe Racing shocks they do not rust, but they officially aren't made for Dodge but they work just fine.
