i want to put a drain plug in the trans pan. i read someone complained cause the pan wasn't quite flat? has anyone ever welded a nut to the inside of pan, and used a bolt with a rubber washer, like your oil pan? i would think the welded nut, would eliminate any leaking problem if the pan isn't exactly flat. anyone with info regarding this?

 

i just put one on mine and it works great. it doesnt get it all out but once you take the pan off it works fine

 

did you put the drain in a corner or center?

pdogg- where did you put the drain plug? any pics? I would like to drill a 1/4" hole to drain the fluid before i drop the pan, but i am nervous about the hole being in the wrong spot, incase the drain plug interferes with filter etc.

 

I put it in the rear, passenger side of the pan.. no pics, sorry.. if I remember correctly, filter is kind of in the middle... plus you have plenty of clearance I think... this drain plug only has maybe 3/8" protrusion into the pan. What I've heard is you want to stay clear of the valve body..

it's the B&M drain plug...

 

I have installed a B&M plug in one of these trucks before and I just ordered one for my current truck. The only thing you really need to be careful of is to put it in a position where there is no obstruction so you can get the pan back on without hitting anything. Works just fine though........
