Small spot of fluid found under truck... Drive 5hr today?
I am in a really tough spot I came out and found a 12" dia spot under the truck there was a very slight drip that has now stopped coming from above the bell housing. I went and drove it again and now there is nothing. My fluid levels all check out. But my coolant level is only a 1/4 about the fill line. Is this normal? It looks like murky water... (the drip)
I ask all this because I am 2 hr from the closest dealer and I have a 10hr run that I have to make in the morning???

Would you drive it? I don't think I have a choice I could make a run to the dealer but if they can't fix it today I am scr*wed!
Can you get this coolant at a local parts store or is it hard to come by?
Is it even the coolant?

There is a heater hose on the exhaust side of the block that is notorious for being loose and leaking on the 2006's. If you get under the truck and look up the short hose runs horizontally under the 4 or 5 cylinders I think. You can see the two hose clamps. You should also be able to see a white/pink stream where the coolant came down the block if that is the problem. If so, just tighten those clamps and it will be gone.
DJ,
You are the MAN! It was right where you said it would be, now how did you know that?
I tightened both clamps on the rubber hose section where it runs between the hard pipe. I have the truck idling right now to see if it stops.
Now to just find some fluid...
Thanks so much again!!!

Been there...Done that.
I had that same exact thing happen on my 06 and have read a few posts about others having the problem for the last year or so. Good to hear that your problem was a simple fix!

leak
Hey that is a pic of my leak also. Discovered a orange spot on the garage floor ater a week of the truck being parked ( 06 mega CTD) Put about 2 twists on the screw clamps and so far so good. Hope there is no more leak in the am. I am making a 12 hr run to Missouri for 2 weeks of turkey hunting. Truck has 12k on it.
