Slight click in front end
Slight click in front end
I have noticed over the last few weeks, A click when I turn my wheels(to the right) at slow speeds. It doesn't do it all the time but mostly when the truck has been sitting for 30 mins or longer, and even then it seems to come and go. I also notice a a tiny bit of steering feedback when pulling ahead and turning the wheel at speeds less than 10mph. I got underneath the truck to see if there was anything obvious and I noticed a slight oil stain on my front axle connection that ties into the ujoint on the driver's side.
Have my u-joints bit it? or is it related to the axle and possible leak?
Truck barely has 50k on it, never towed in its life (or run a snow plow)
Never seen a boosted 4X4 launch or a dirt road for that matter.
I am hoping whatever it is, is covered by warranty....

These things generally come with a pretty short drain tube for the fuel filter/seperator that dribbles onto the front axle. Could that be the slight stain? Wouldn't hurt to check the power steering pump for leaks and proper fluid level.
How does the U joint look up close? Rusty stuff coming out of the cap's seals?
You could also put that wheel up on a jackstand with the steering turned, and see if you can locate the source of the sound by turning the wheel by hand.
I sometimes forget to look for something obvious, like a rock in the wheel, or nail or other object stuck in the tire...

All good replies but I would look at the U-Joints first or maybe after rocks in the tires. jack up the wheel that you think is the problem, turn the wheel so you can look at the U-Joint then spin the wheel back and forth, you should be able to see movement in the Joint or pry on it a little. It has been my experience that a front end or U-Joint that is never used goes out first.
my buddy had the same problem with his his caps got rusted i know this aint the right way to do it but spray some pb blaster on them and it might go away!!!! his did and they are still tight it also happened to his rear driveshaft u joints

Yup, U-joints are toast. Dealer will change for $700. (Can). I bought Precision, U-joints for $80 INC shipping and can get them installed for $460.
Oh yeah no warranty, but that's life.
