Recall b.s.

I had the front diff rear pinion seal start leaking on me the other day. I knew that it would be covered under warranty so I made an appointment to have it replaced.

I called them at 3pm ,specified by me, time only to find out that they did not have the seal and wanted to keep it overnight. While it is there they would do the recall thing re: horn honking when not in park.

I picked up the truck today seal was replaced but it needs a sensor to hook up the horn honk recall thing(Coming from Dallas).

I now have daytime running lights and no horn upon locking/unlocking the vehicle. Neither of these did I request.

I'll be back at the dealer tomorrow morning to have this corrected

Rick

would be interesting to see what "sensor" you say is needed. The recall merely uploads data into the fcm and cluster. No parts involved.

Strangely enough that is the specific part that they have on order

Upon further inspection this morning:

I have no washer/wipers, no turn signals, no flashers, no brights, no fog lights, no horn and the window washer selenoid keeps kicking on like it is trying to start .

I thought that this was going to be a recall that could be taken care of using the drb port

Sounds like the FCM got toasted when they tried to do the RECALL update and they ordered a replacement unit.

According to the service manager 1 in 5 trucks will have the same results frying the fcm when trying to perform this recall and they have no idea as to why.

I'm currently on the phone to DC.

my roommate went in for the white smoke tsb and to get his tire size updated. All they did was the park honk thing.

So here I sit with out my truck because of a "safety recall" that may or may not fry your FCM was downloaded to my rig. Not to mention the fact that it makes the horn sound when left in reverse instead of park so that all of your neighbors will come out and see you get run over by your own vehicle!!

Hows it going Rick? That sucks, their should be no reason as to why your truck isn't "legally" operable.

Did you go to Folsom Lake Dodge?

Hearing all you guys horror stories about the dreaded "PARK/HORN" TSB makes me all the more happy I got the 6-spd MANUAL Yup I don't have to live in fear of taking my truck to the dealer.

Eek. Sorry you have to sit in one of those foreign substance vehicles Rick.

I had my truck flashed also, no problems. Some people are saying that when their door is open in "R" their horn honks, not mine. If I slap it in "P" and open the door quick it will honk once at thats it. I've never had my truck not go into "P" or slip out of it. I couldnt even tell ya why I got it flashed to begin with.

My older boys just about came apart when I told them that ,"This is my new truck". They both immediately stopped smiling and said, "This had better be a rental!!"

LOL!!
