Question Q for the guys who perforated the air box

When you took a hole saw to the air box, did anybody epoxy a piece of window screen in there? I see posts on here about varmints taking up residence in next to the air filter, was wondering if anybody had come up with a way to combat the furry beasties yet....

Someone once mentioned a 2" circular grills made just for protecting the holes drilled into air boxs (motorcycles), they came in a kit of 6.

Do some more searching here and at TDR....

when i was using the stock air box, i drilled a 4" hole in the bottom, and installed a course aluminum wire mesh [about 1/4" diamond hole] so it kept larger items out, but bee's could just fit in [had 2 of them on the filter when i looked at it before i removed it for a bhaf]

I cut a piece of 1/2" metal mesh to fit over the hole. Screws with fender washers hold it in place. The post that shows a screen bolted to the box looks cool and heavy duty but the bolts are overkill. It also doesn't look to me to be an '03-04 airbox; we don't have that much flat space on the bottom of the box.

I've drilled my airboxes for years and have never had any unwanted critters.

From: I'll look into that!
If a critter takes residence in mine he'll be sorry cause when I floor it he's gonna look like a person in a falling elevator up against the airfilter

Rather than one large hole, I drilled a WHOLE BUNCH of little holes in mine.

I took an old Outerwears & put on the 4" elbow I added to my airbox.
An Outerwear if you don't know is a water resistant pre filter used on off road engines.

Click link to see it.

I guess a mouse could chew it's way in but my Barn Owls take care of them!!

It was for the stock foam air filter, I got rid of the air box & am running 2 K&N filters so I had the old Outerwears laying around & found a use for it!!
