P2149 Code. Safe to limp home?
On the way home from work the truck threw a code (check engine light came on) and stumbled as I sat at a light. As I started to accelerate it ran very rough and slow.
EGT's were very high and I was afraid something was VERY mechanically wrong.
Pulled into a gas station and got the P2149 on my Smarty.
Oil read at the bottom of the dipstick (but I was parked on an angle)
Unplugged the TS8, reset the code and started the truck. No change, still ran rough.
My question is, is it safe to drive home to work on it, or should I have it towed?
By biggest fear is having an injector stick open and burn a hole in the cylinder wall.........is that even possible if it's most likely a bad electrical connection? (or bad batteries?)
I know it's late, but any help would be greatly appreciated because I can't leave it in the parking lot too long, and I have a funeral to get to at 12:00 tomorrow so my best time to figure this all out is early tomorrow morning.

Yore safe, go home and change your batteries. Recommend Optima red with minimum of 850 amp crank. Also look into your valve gasket, probably will need to replace it due to bad wiring or just loose a contact inside cover. Lastly you may have to deal with your injectors if the code is still there. Good luck.
Too late, already had it towed to the shop
Why would bad batteries be a possible culprit? If the truck is running, shouldn't the alternator be putting out enough juice to run the injectors, regardless of whether or not the batteries are good?

injector 4-5 or 6 is bad. this code is set off by a cracked crystal. you find it by checking ohms it should read 0.4-0.5 ohms, anything over 1 ohm is bad. nearly every time one fails it drops flow off, your failure must have dropped enough trash to bind the injector open. it would have ruined the engine if you had driven it home
I agree with batterys and valve cover gasket with injector wiring in it.
I also still have the question as to why bad batteries could cause this. I know that a bad battery will/can cause strange things, but I'm curious as to why.......
correct the 07 does not have the gasket problem. bad batteries will not trip that code on a 07. with bad batteries the starter pulls the voltage so low that the ecm regulator can not maintain proper internal operating voltage and when you disengage the starter it sends a spike to the ecm causing erroneous codes
