P0483 Code

Question, I check my default codes evey now and then thru cycling the ignition key. Code P0483 came up last night. No check enging light has appeared. This code is Fan related. Is there a real problem? Because if there was, how would I know about it? Assuming I didn't know the key trick? This code is some kind of hi speed fan relay, however when I checked in the replay box there isn't a fan relay? The only thing on the truck that has changed is I installed a plow last friday, I'm wondering if the wiring of it had something to do with this code? Any suggestions?

Re:P0483 Code

After further digging I think I figured it out. The code means "cooling fan rationaly check malf." The fan did kick in at low speed after installing the blade and the outside temp. was around 50 degrees. That might explain a conflict in the ecu parameters for the fan cycling therefor throwing the code!

Re:P0483 Code

Would you mind filling me in on this ignition switch trick for getting codes?

Thanks!

From another thread:

What is the procedure to check for codes on these trucks?
[/quote] Bulabula turn the key to the off then the on postion 3 times, the 3rd time leave it in the on postion it will run through its course if there is any codes it will tell a number like mine did. DO NOT CRANK THE MOTOR on any of the cycles

Re:P0483 Code

Ok, I'm stupid here. Where does this code show up? Where can I find a crossreference for the code number to know what it means? ???

Re:P0483 Code

I tried it out today. The code would show up in the odometer display, I believe. Mine just said "done"...meaning that there were no codes. As far as the cross reference, do a search on codes here...someone recently posted all of the codes and what they mean. Not sure where they got it, but it looked pretty accurate, and pretty helpful too!

Also, a lot of the major auto parts stores around here can decode them for you if you call them.

Re:P0483 Code

under the post "error Codes" today you will find this link...

Check reply #6 on this thread.

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...7380#msg197380

I copied and pasted the codes and info to a sheet for keeping.
I think this should be a perminate link on this site forever...
