Oil level- now I'm paranoid

After reading about all of this fuel in the oil, I went out to look at my oil level. I wiped and dipped twice and the level is about 1/4 inch above the top of the safe mark. Smells pretty much like oil though. It was lower than that when I bought the truck and I only have 1600 miles. Could I have a leaking injector already?

The first time you check the oil level did the truck sit for a period of time? Say like at least 15-30 minutes? Only way to get an accurate reading.
If you're not smelling diesel fuel I wouldn't be concerned yet.

LOL... I service a fleet that has a bunch of big truck and the fleet manager was a dunce...
He pulled the stick and thought it smelled like diesel (never mind he did this as he was refueling) So he thought if it would catch fire then it must have diesel in it! He soaked a paper towel with the oil and lit it ... It burned it must have diesel in it?!?! hahaha ... After sending it to the shop to get "repairs" they told him that his test was a little flawed... Paper burns like a candle when you soak it in oil.

So does this mean that if we want to check to see if are trucks are empty or not, we can light a match by the fuel tank opening ???
