am i just paranoid?

ok....time for another stupid question from me. On two seperate occasions, my truck has failed to start after a reasonable crank time. THe first time was after the truck had sat two days. It was around 85 degrees. I turned on the key, could hear the fuel pump, wait to start light went out, cranked for ~7 seconds (maybe a little more?----more than a usual amoutn of time to start) and nada. i waited a sec, cycled the key off and then back on again, and then it started in a normal amount of time.

incident #2: full, fresh tank of fuel. truck had sat for 8-9 hours, temperature around 80 degrees. same situation.

i know this is a total newbie, dumb question, so im donning the flame suit now. but....its made me kinda nervous that the brand new truck was that hard to start. should i be concerned at all? or just chalk it up to thats what theyll do?

btw, i have ~3000 miles

Hmmm - I don't think mine has ever taken more than four or so seconds to start, and it's always started the first try.... Seven seconds sounds like a long time to me....

BUT - this Dodge has always taken more time to crank than my Ford did - it did take a little bit of getting used to.

Cranked for 7 seconds?? That's not normal. It should crank for approximately 1 second before it fires up.

I guess I should've stated that it's never taken mine MORE than 4 seconds to start. It usually starts in 1 to 2 seconds. Thanks for making me think about how I wrote that Hoss....

Sounds like air is getting into the lines. Does it run alright once it fires up? How bout if it's only been sitting for 30 mins or so.

ok...so im not being too paranoid

once its started, its run like a top. its only happened twice thus far, once after sitting for ~36hours, once after about 8 or 9 hours.

ill say i cranked 5-7 seconds (hard to estimate....ills say more than twice as long as it usually takes) with no results. turned it off....waited a couple secs, did it again and it fired up. my 360 would do this every once in a while, but it had 100K on it and i just figured the fuel pump leaked down or something......
