Tow/Haul=Lower Temps

I have been playing with my new Commander monitor for the last couple of days and decided to try a experiment. My daily commute is 34 miles one way 95% highway with a couple of moderate hills. I have been watching my tranny temps over the last few days on the way in and this morning decided to drive make the drive in Tow/Haul mode. My tranny temps were down about 8* to 10* over driving with T/H off. As long as driving in T/H all the time does not hurt the tranny or mileage can anyone see any reason not to do it? Lower temps has to be better for the tranny.

i asked a similar question a few weeks ago for my 06. is the 05 t/h much different. not a lot of response, but a general feeling of its okay. the mileage logically should be better, less slip right. im still wondering about long term effects on any of the weaker links since your temp discovery should indicate longer life for a lot of the parts. i love t/h, always use it, even empty, although i have a lot of hills, drives more like a stick(still kind of wish i had one). i wish i could get it to stay on between starts, its so tough pushing that button everytime i start. oh wait thats sarcasm, my wife said i can't use that any more.

if this is your 05 truck, on the highway in tow/haul the trans is still in OD just like it would be if you didnt have tow/haul on. if i see a 5 degree fluctuation in temp outside, my trans temp can change up to 10 degrees.

That is what I was hoping smoeone could tell me about running in T/H all the time. I would prefer the truck starting in T/H and I have the option of hitting the button to disable it. I was surprised at the temp difference this morning over what I saw last Friday and Monday on the way in with the T/H engaged. And the outside temps were the same all 3 times, the mid 70's. Maybe someone with more knowledge about it than I have will chime in on this.

speaking of tranny temps i just saw an article that stated if you tranny temps get over 200 you can cause damage. well here in the houston area with the outside temp around 95 or more, if i'm sitting in traffic with my boat it will hit 210 - about 212 and it is not a heavy boat. i've used the t/h and it might drop it 8-10* but i'm still at the 200 mark. the fluid and that should be good as the truck only has about 11,000 miles.

We just got back from a couple of weeks on the road and with the 5th wheel and in traffic with temps in the high 90's I saw temps in the 185* to 195* range. This week here it has been between 99* and 102* on my trips home and I have seen no higher than 180* on the road.
