No Automatic High Idle When Cold

Hello,
Starting to get cold around here and noticed my truck is no longer automatically idling up when the truck is started in the mornings. Have searched on the posts for a cause and can't seam to find one. Does anyone know which sensor causes the truck to idle up or have any idea what the cause may be? Batteries are in good condition along with the cables. I have also noticed the grid heater isn't working like it should but I have found plenty of posts on that. Hope to figure this out before it really gets cold. Thanks in advance.

Truck info: 2005 Dodge Ram 2500, 105,000, basically stock except cold air intake and cool hose.

How cold has it been? If I recall correctly auto high idle comes on below 30 degrees. Do you have manual high idle enabled? Turn on cruise control and hit the increase speed button once for 1000RPM's and then press and hold if you want to increase further up to 1500RPM's.

It hasn't been that low yet, hovering around 32. Maybe that's the problem. Should be there this weekend, we'll see. I never had them flash for the manual high idle.

Snowing this morning and still no idle up. Any ideas? I was thinking possible the IAT sensor? Any one know what sensor monitors the idle up?

I'm not sure which sensor controls idle up (coolant maybe) but mine generally doesn't idle up until it's down below 20 or so.

I would think if one temp sensor quit, it would set a code.

Mine set CEL and code said battery temp rationality- battery temp out of range from the other temp sensors. Turned out there was a reflash to change when that triggers the CEL and sets code- so you don't get false alarms using the block heater.

From an 04 owners manual:

"If ambient temperatures are low and the coolant
temperature is below 200°F (93°C), the engine idle
speed will slowly increase to 1000 RPM after 2 minutes
of idle."

Not sure what exactly they call "low ambient temperatures" though.

I agree! My 2005 doesn't kick itself up until its really cold out below the 20 degree range.
