Nitto vs cooper discover

Looking at getting new tires tomorrow leaning towards the cooper Discover ATPs
Load range E

Nitto terra grappler 50k $225
Cooper discover 55k $195

How does everyone like the cooper discovery tires?

Cooper discover on the right.

Cooper makes a decent tire and I do run them on my old 1980 Toyota ranch truck. That being said, the Nittos (and also Toyos) that I run on the 2005 Ram have always handled REALLY well under ALL conditions. They also balance out with minimal weights, a definite sign of a decent tire manufacturing process. For the $100 more I'd go with the Nittos.

Having used the nitto terra grappler tires on the 05, never again. Excellent traction in all but wet clay conditions, quiet, minimal flex, all around awesome. Wear, that's a whole nother story. Fastest wearing tires I have ever run. That includes the cheapo stock tires. Way too much money for no tread life.

Best luck I have had for all around performance and treadwear is Goodyear duratrac.

I have used the copper stt tires. Almost the same story as the terra grappler. Other than a slightly more aggressive tread pattern.

Good luck with your choices

I have the Goodyear Duratracs now, the truck wonders all over the road.
Tires feel like a soft side wall, tried different tire pressures with no help.
Surprised I hadn't been stopped for drunk driving!!!!
You could'nt give me another set.

I run the Cooper ST's and really like them. I get around 30K miles, but do not rotate like I should....... This set I didn't rotate tires till the 20K mark.

I wouldn't go back to TGs ever. They were agressive enough ATs but wet weather traction was terrible. I ran mine until 45k but I ran them 5-8k longer than I should have.

I like my Coopers, but I run the AT3s. I do have an ATP on the spare.

My neighbor loves his 285 AT3's on his lightly loaded '98.5. Great looking and near silent.
I just insist on a three ply sidewall for my setup.

I ran the coopers STs on my old dually and was very pleased with them. I towed heavy and they stood up great. Had great traction in the snow, I pulled a 7000# trailer threw a nasty blizzard and they did great and the tires were almost 2 years old at that time. They weren't so good in mud though but the truck didn't see mud very often.

I have Duratracs on my 2500 now and traction is great but I won't buy another, too squirrelly when towing and truck wanders.

I have the Cooper ATPs (285 E) on my 06 and they've been great so far. I've also had my Four Wheel Hawk camper on the truck for the last 4 months with no issues. The tires are wearing well and no balancing issues.

The only issue, and it's minor, is that the tread does seem to pick up a lot of small stones.
