New Injectors 2003 dodge

I had a problem last winter with my truck not starting when its freezing but if i plugged it in for an hour it would start, they did a computer flash in august saying it would fix it, well i tested it out in 30 degree weather last week and it wouldnt start. So i took it in today and dropped it off and just called them and they said i need new injectors. Said theres a problem with some 03 trucks, they had two sitting in there getting the same thing done. So now i have to look forward to that and theres a back order on parts and they may have my truck for two weeks cause they have to take them out and send them in for testing and if there bad they will put new ones in. 72k on odometer

We feel the pain. Lot's of injector issues going around. Did they give you a quote????? Did you have to wash your shorts when they did????

He qouted me 3500 if i had to pay but it falls under the 100k cummins warranty. Plus i was still under warranty when i had the flash done in august and they said they would still honor my warranty until i was able to test it and see if it actually fixed it. Cept its hunting season now so im going to get it done in november, ill just keep plugging it in.

Stoopid question: Did you check your grid heater? I'm no expert, but it doesn't sound like injectors to me.

Thats what i thought to but im no mechanic, i did check fuses for it and everyting checked out but i would think they would check that out before they go ripping into the injectors. Is there a way i can test it.

If your heaters are working when it is below 50 degrees the wait to start light should light up and when it does start you should see the volt guage drop and any lights on dim. If this doesn't occur they are not working.

The wait to start light does come on and my voltage stays below the half way line for a little bit till i get going then it goes to normal. Everything seems to be working in that department.

Just thinking out loud, what if you have someone put their hand on the intake plenum (or whatever it's called- where the grid heater is) and see if it gets warm during the wait-to-start-cycle? (or maybe it's thermally isolated too well)
