who has dleted there muffler and left the oem tale pipe on the truck? How good does it sound?

 

I did mine about a year ago and left the stock tail pipe on but put a fancy tip on it. As fo the sound its nice and deep and the only time its really loud is towing something heavy or when your pushing the skinny pedal to hard. I've heard that if you take the cat off there is a bad drone.

 

i took the muffler out of my 2004.5 and left the cat on and i didnt hear much difference, cut the cat off and ran a straight pipe and u can hear me 2 miles away... big difference.. love it!!!!

 

..and I love it. I actually want it louder. I guess by louder I mean deeper, so 5" is in my future. I don't have a drone, but it really screams when you mash the skinny! I think it scares people beside you, if they aren't paying attention.

 

I left the kitty and the stock tailpiece, it did not make that much change in noise level over stock, towing has a little higher noise factor, MegaCabs have a resonator after the muffler so it makes a difference the guys with quad or reg cabs say their noise levels are higher. It lowered my EGT's a good 200*'s, certainly a good gain there. I'd do it again without hesitation.

My truck didn't come with a cat and with the muffler gone it has a horrible drone. It sounded good all winter, but when I started to drive with the passenger window down this spring, It got old quick, very loud. If I'm over 2500RPMs it almost sounds like an import. I'm considering a 5" sytem soon.

I have the muffler delete with cat still in and all factory piping. I personally love it. Deeper throatier tone and a little louder but not obnoxious. I recommend it...

Cat and resonator still in place. Only muffler deleted.
Sounds perfect and NO drone.

 

First thing I did was was get rid of the muffler, never had a cat and also put a down pipe on it. The drone was bad but it really did'nt bother me. Then I got the Stack bug. Talk about loud I love it but I am pretty sure I will putting a muffler on someday.

First time I hit 75 on the highway my Fiance said to slow down it her ears hurt


She is getting used to it now.
