motorguard bypass

I am getting ready to install my motorguard oil bypass and was wondering what the size of the fitting is on top of the stock oil filter mount? What size lines should I use?

Not sure about the fitting, looks to be around 5/16 or maybe 3/8. They're not that expensive, I'd Just pick up a couple at your favorite place to get that type stuff around that size and return the one you don't need next time you're there.

As far as the lines size, 1/4" is plenty. The MG (or any bypass filter for that matter) works best when the flow is slow. If you got it from Ralph he probaby included a 1/16" orifice restrictor, which would make any line size bigger than 1/4" pretty much useless anyway. Make sure you use that restrictor on the input, otherwise the filtering efficiency won't be as good as it could. Slow flow is good for bypass filtering.

I'm about to install a Gulf Coast 01 on mine and intend to connect the output to the turbo return line. Where do you expect to connect the output?

I intend to return the oil to the front oil return port on the block. Were a turbo would drain back if it was farther forward.

The fitting size I was mainly wondering if it was metric or npt?

Probably metric, but don't really know. Take the plug with you and test the threads at the HW store or wherever you get the fitting.

I've been trying to get info. on that front oil return port on the block you mentioned. I'm new to the Cummins and couldn't find any info on that, but thought I remembered seeing something about a block plug or port like you said on another forum. Can you tell me exactly where to look for this port?

I believe the fitting is either 1/8 or 1/4 NPT. Sorry I can't be more specific but it's been awhile...
