Dodge restricts licensing for ATF+4 to keep prices up (about 4 times as much as Dexron)
--------------------------------------------------------

I believe it is $4.42 at Walmart now.

It sets the performance standard in the diesel market with an outstanding combination of horsepower
(350 hp vs. 310 hp on the 5.9L) torque (up to 650 lb. ft. vs. 610 on the 5.9L),
Dmax has 365/660...where is the performance standard?

6 speeds (68RFE) vs. 4 on the 48RE
Note: 68RFE is a lower cost alternative to the 6-speed Aisin currently
in the 3500 chassis cab.
I don't care about lower cost...i want a good tranny.

The most important benefit provided by the 68RFE is the increased torque capacity, which allows a new
torque rating 40 lb. ft. higher than the previous 4-speed, to a class-leading 650 lb. ft.
??? The Allison 6 is rated at 650 lb. ft. or more.

Sorry, not trying to be negative here but they are pretending to be the the first kid on the block with some of the statements they made.

Good info tho. Now if DC would actually train their Service people & technicians i might consider trading my Dodge in for an 07 model instead of the 07 Silverado.
btw; 50 bucks for adjusting the headlights is a rip-off!

Hey SootBlower

Not trying to justify prices going up but how much has your earnings gone up since 1991?

Not exactly sure what BRayls is saying by the 68RFE is not a DCX transmission ?? The case is made here, the gears are made here and it is assembled here. You know, if it quacks like a duck ----. The new body style (this one is 13 yrs old) will be released for the 2008 model year or 2007.5 late.so now you can have a new body with a new engine and a new tranny, what more can you ask for. !!

Wages have about doubled since 1991 but truck prices and parts have gone up more. I guess there is a lot more power and better towing capability with 5 speed auto and more pollution control that pushes up prices as well. There is definitely an "excess profit factor" that is due to popularity of the diesel that is comparable to buying high cost marine parts for boats. This popularity would die pretty quickly if diesels had to inject urea into the exhaust in future years - especially when the stuff freezes up in Northern climates.

I wonder what the Dodge mechanics think of new trucks when 3 cylinders are under the dashboard with latest designs? My 91 is easy to work on as I can get at everything but even my 97 requires some contortion to work on No 6 cylinder valves. This has to add costs to maintenance and repair.

If you believe that jobs are being lost because of outsourcing then you need to bring it up at the union meetings AND educate your brothers and sisters and have them also participate in the meetings. Many people worked very hard to get the 68RFE and the new DCX/Gertrag built in the transmission capital of the world. Sadly with the Germans everything is viewed as price not quality. My name is from my role models, Don Garlits, Don Prudhomme, and Kenny Bernstein and thanks for asking

There's a new body style coming out as well? I hadn't heard that before.

I sure hope they don't pull a Ford and shove the engine up under the cowl any more than it already is. I really like that I can get to 90+% of the engine by kneeling on the front bumper - always making sure I don't smash the condenser fins of course :-)

no strikes over new products. I am trying to figure out whom you are as I work in the ktp plant.not your name on the site. Fred whom? do you work in the plants? the getrag will not be going to kokomo, mark my words. could be wrong, but good source has told me 122 acres were sold in tipton county to the south of us. maybe wrong but the source knows the county well and the buyers, remember you heard it here first.

I have not seen pics yet and no word where it will be built. As I told BRayls with the Germans its all about $. I am hoping for St Louis but ----.

Yea I figured that was what you meant but my job is iffy enough I don't need any extra pushes . Striking for outsourceing is NOT for new work, you must be talking to "give away Guy". He and Nate never met a job they wouldn't outsource as long as it didn't effect them personally. Now Nate is dead and there are some new sherrifs in town we'll see.
Now Tipton and Howard county can begin the bidding game. The ground you are talking about is just north of 28 on the east side by the railroad. I guess even my B&**%h Mitch was there to pat himself on the back so that's another we'll see .If we the workers don't get out of the mindset "Iv'e got mine and to heck with you" we are all going to be working for Wal Mart

So since the 6.7L cummins runs on ultra low sulfur and bio diesel fuel. What good is it in Canada since we only have Low sulfur diesel and regular diesel fuel, I read in a magazine that running low sulfur diesel fuel in a 6.7L cummins will screw it up. I have an 03 5.9L cummins and winter Diesel sure flows thru the tank fast i get crappy millage with low sulfur winter diesel already.

Second Q/A on this page discusses Canadian fuel. http://www.chevron.com/products/prod.../ulsd.shtml#A2

As for putting S500 in a 6.7, yeah I heard that too, so if CVX is correct, you shouldn't have that as an issue.
