Mileage help

My mileage has slowly been decreasing over the last year. I have all new oil, fuel and air filters and keep my oil changed. Is there anything that I should be looking at when I am at 100k to help fix this. I only got 9 to 10mpg pulling and empty 16ft cattle trailer. I probably get 15mpg on the highway doing 70 when I used to get 18mpg hand calculated. This is with my chip on or off.

You should be doing way better than that. Do you still have your stock exhaust system? Have you had your oil analyzed?

The two thought coming to mind are a plugged cat or bad injectors. How is your smoke?

I'm not a big fan of the edge... I used to have one. When is the last time you had it updated? Try pulling the edge off and see how you do.

I have a magnaflow muffler and the cat. The smoke isn't to bad unless I turn the edge on. I run with it off most of the time. How do you get your cat tested? Can they hook to it with a computer to check the injectors and cat? I didn't not realize you could update the edge. Would turning it to level 0 be the same as turning it off. My fuel mileage is about the same whether it is on or off.

As far as testing the cat, the only way I know is to pull it off, or check it for excessive heat.

I would unplug the edge. You have to send it in to get it updated. Look on the black box and see what the model and serial number and software version is, and then call edge and see if they have updates.

Fuel and air filter would be my first guess. Second would be the pre-filter in the fuel tank itself, i wouldn't mention these cept that's what i found with mine. First two are easy, filter in the tank will whoop your ***.(i cut a hole in my bed, not a prollum any longer)

I'm wondering how your injectors might be doing.

I believe you can legally install a test pipe in place of the cat for troubleshooting purposes, but it needs to be replaced with a cat, promptly.

Do you have emissions testing where you live?

I installed an intake pump probably less than 8000miles ago. My fuel gets replaced every 6000 miles since I don't drive it a whole lot and just got replaced about 500 miles ago. I put the stock air filter setup back in to see if that would make a difference. Is there away for them to see how your injectors are doing with out pulling them out? I do not have emissions testing where I am located.

Is there a high flow cat for diesels? I think I remember there being one for gas engines.
