Will DDP injector tips improve mileage on an 03? Other mileage tricks?
With the exception of a Smarty jr., my brother has a bone stock 2003 2500 4 door 6 speed with 3.73 gears. He is doing whatever he can to get better mileage from the truck. It does have 105,000 miles and he is now putting 5000 miles a month on the clock. Is this too many miles to swap tips?
The Smarty jr. made no improvement over the stock mileage of 14.5 on the "mileage" setting but, did pick up 2.5-3 mpg on the highest setting.
He does none to little towing; just throws about 1000 lbs of work items in the bed.
Water/meth? Turbo? Exhaust? Intake? Gears? Cam? Electric fan? Manual hubs? Propane?
With no converter in 03, does exhaust help?
Any other suggestions appreciated.

F1 makes some mileage tips that should help. THere is something else going on though. A close to stock 03 should be closer to 20 mpg. He does not have too many miles to swap tips. But Don will go through them and make sure all the injectors are working properly when he installs the tips. The mileage tips are also good for about a 40hp increase too.

I just did DDP 50's and gained an honest 2 MPG. The bad news is, unless your brother updated his fuel filtering, with those miles he will probably need to do whole new injectors, or the tips alone could aggravate injectors already on there way out. I had to do mine as the stock injector bodies were not good anymore. DDP injectors are a good addition all around.

A cam is supposed to help out the milage. They are relatively cheap, but if you have to pay someone to install it then its not really worth it. 1500.00 is the general quote I got from a few people when it came to haveing one installed and that my friend buys a WHOLE LOT of diesel. I ended up doing everything myself because of the cost.
