Question Massive amounts of white smoke???

I was stopped at a service area on I-80 near Toledo heading up to Michigan early this morning on business and i noticed the truck spitting out some white smoke at idle. It was around 6 degrees out, truck was still pretty warm, and I had been driving for around 9 hours or so. I only let it idle for about 20 minutes or so while I ate (rpm's were at 1k). After I noticed all the poofs I hit the throttle a few times and man it filled the parking lot, it also seemed to stutter pretty bad. I took off down the interstate and all seemed fine, the smoke cleared up. No power loss while driving, fuel pressure was around 7ish, fuel filter just replaced a couple days ago, and 50k on the ticker if that helps anyone out. Anybody have any clues? Is this normal? Do I have a flakey injector? Thanks for the help...

I have seen that relate to a bad injector. Not always the case though. Check out this thread there may a TSB for the problem.

04.5's and up have a TSB for white smoke/poor mpg, which most people have reported to help out a lot. This isn't a typical thing to see on a 555. It's likely you have a LEAKING injector. There's somewhere in the dealer's computer that they can test what % compared to spec the injector is flowing. Some folks experienced greater than 100% flow at idle, which meant the injector was leaking fuel down into the cylinder - which causes white smoke. If the problem continues, might want to have the dealer hook up his DRB.

Thanks for the replies guys. I read an older post too about symptoms of a leaky injector, this seems what it might be. That would deffinetly explain the bellowing white smoke. I'll see if there is a dealership around it to maybe throw a DRB on it. Shoot, being some what close to the motor city, I wonder if they could get parts faster...

So assuming it is leaking, is it still ok to drive? More importantly will it leave me stranded somewhere?

Mine did the same thing and it was an injector......

Also have the newest re-flash for white smoke and poor fuel economy.
