Lowering DRW

I have the 2005 3500 DRW 4X4 and pull a 5'er. It is a little high and the clearance is not what I would like it to be. I've seen that there is a TSB on older model about taking out the blocks on the rear axle.
Does anyone know if this will apply to the newer models also? Have you had it done? Did it effect the handling?

Thanks

the TSB does not apply to the 3rd gens but you can lower it easily by relocating the spacers that are under the springs to above the springs. this will lower your rearend about 1.25"

it shouldn't do anything..... I have seen tsb's about the dealership adding and removing spacers to help level the truck. From side to side and overall height. just do it and forget it.

I did the block switch to my 04 2x4 DRW due to the bed being so high that it was rear hard to get my slid in camper on. Well this effected two things, one is that now I can not get the caliper bolts out to do the brakes. The bolts only will come out an inch or so, thats not enought for the caliper to be removed. Maybe I could remove the entire bracket, but it looks to me like I will be taking the U bolts off to do the brakes. Now you may not have that prob if you have the lift blocks that make up the hight dif from the 2x4 to 4x4. The other prob is with the camper on ( aprox 2500 lb loaded ) the axle is 1 inch from the stops. I just got back from a 2500 mil trip to the east coast and after hearing the axle banging on the stops on anything but a near fresh road ( AND SPEED BUMPS...ON MAN) I now see airbags in the future.

PS someone know an airbag setup for the DRW's that does not cost a house payment?

Kenny, there is a bag setup that you can get that bolts in where the bumpstops are at. I have one on my truck. It is very easy to install, just read the instructions to familiarize yourself with them. I paid like 300.00 +- a little. I did not get the kit with the compressor because it jumped the price up a lot. So I just ran my airlines to the back of the truck and hook an air hose to them. I can't remember the brand, I will look tomorrow and put it on here for you.

one of the guys over on tdr also moved the spacer blocks, and tryed taking out the caliper and said it could be done. the bolt does seem to back out enough according to him that you can remove the calipers... hmm... i may need to try that on mine to see if it will clear.. if not, that will be a supreme PITA
