Angry leaking injector??

I just replaced the injectors in my 03 2500, stock unmolested. after idle up for awhile, I noticed a fuel knock and white smoke. shut it down waited about 15 min and restarted, heavy white smoke, still knocking. I drove it up the street and got a moderately heavy fuel knock, white smoke. Could one of them be leaking or a tube leaking. None of this prior to injector change...

Don't drive it any further. One of the injectors is bad. Either cracked nozzle or body. That is unlikely to be the crossover tube.

Anyway, it is bad injector juju.

A mechanic with a scan tool can shut injectors off and on one at a time to isolate them.

A much harder "poor man's" way of doing it involves (insert danger warning here... do NOT operate an uncapped rail!) disconnecting the injector line (one at a time) from the rail, properly capping the rail and starting the engine to listen for difference in running. When the knock and the white smoke stops, you found the bad one.

You can also use infrared temp gauge read exhaust temp on each exhaust outlet on manifold the one reading the lowest temp is the bad injector cylinder. Or cap off each injector line at the rail until you find cylinder that is knocking or causing white smoke. First test maybe fastest but do not drive vehicle with injector dumping fuel into cylinder. Also change your oil most likely diluted with diesel fuel now.

Ok. I re-replaced all 6 injectors. Truck started. Question is, how long will it take to clear up white smoke and engine to smooth out?? Cylinders were loaded with fuel......
