Last years HO #'s and what is the 48RE
I'm just curious about a few things. What was the 02's HO HP and Torque on their diesel before the change over? Is the 48RE an Allison tranny or a chry. product? I was one of the guys who got a 47RE, but I don't ever see myself pulling more than a race car with mine, so I assume I'm fine. I figure with the powertrain warrenty if anything goes wrong hopefully dodge will back it, notice I said hopefully. Thanks!

Thanks. I wonder how much torque the 47RE can handle. I assume the same as the 02's HO motor or did they mate a different tranny with the HO's for last year?

So is the 47RE a POS? I assume the 47RE is getting alot of bad press because of the 48RE coming out and everyone taking advantage of the HO motor 48RE combo. I guess I could look around in the SO 2nd gen column to see what kind of issues these guys are having with the 47RE. Hmmmmm ???

I have 2 trucks ( 2000 & 2001 ) with the 47RE. Both are plow and work trucks. One has made atleast 15,000 miles pulling a 10,000 trailer. No problems with either, like anything else it is how you take care of them. If you want to bomb your cummins the auto is not a great way to go unless you want to stick a bunch of money in it.

Marc Cocke

im kinda familiar with the 02 auto trucks- i have 2 buddies that live in independence mo , on both trucks ive added a
65 H.P. / 185 TQ box big honking air filter BHAF, and exhaust upgrades-

both trucks are less than 7 months old, and both my buddies were impressed with the power-, but that is pretty much the limit of power upgrades for that stock tranny- so, pretty much, 47RE = POS :'( till you do some upgrades to it-

maybe you can add a upgraded air filter, and when the horsepower boxes come out for the 03's, wait awhile to see how everyone elses transmissions are doing-

Bryan

Thanks a bunch guys. I'm not looking for hella power just a little something to have fun with when I'm not pulling. I guess the aftermarket world will open all kinds of neat toys.
