What has changed in the cummins in the last 5 years? and what is the real poweroutput

i have a 04.5 cummins 325/600

anyways, whats changed to the engine in the last 5 years to give the performance boosts..

Has anyone Dyno'd there 04.5 truck and seen the true output without mods? is it far above 600 torque? like 630?

since hearing about the 610 torque i was thinking that the engine already had the 610 there they were just waiting to say hey (we are upping it once again) but without even changing anything..

So whats going on here... what have they changed so far thats giving these tiny boosts of power :/

Pretty much, your small little jumps in hp is contributed to ECM programming. Basically all software related.

For the most part just programing. Cummins sells this motor in medium duty trucks, marine and industrial applications at significantly higher hp/torque ratings.

The engine is dialed DOWN to the power levels we use. No significant mechanical modifications are necessary to dial it back up.

interesting, why dont they sell the option for a higher horsepower/torque rating then?

i mean if its there why not have the option for it in the larger trucks..i mean 3500 by larger trucks.

just up the pricing on it another 1 grand so i get 425hp/700 tq

or something like that..

This rest of the drivetrain is "The Weakest Link"
Remember, Dodge has to warranty the drivetrain to last 70-100 thousand miles.
The engines are de-tuned so they can reduce warranty claims.

actual Cummins sell the ISB in higher torque rating and lower horsepower , we have them at 300 horsepower and 670 torque.

High Horsepower = Bragging Rights

High Torque = Broken Parts

If you dynoed a 04.5 without mods it would be less than advertised becuase the hp and tq they advertise is actualy at the flywheel not at the wheels.
