Smile Kudo's to dealer!!

Monday I was travelling from Canon City, CO. to Casper, WY. Just before Colorado Springs the truck made a strange noise, sorta like tire noise from running over rumble strips.....didn't think much about it at the time. Then it happened again just south of Glendo, Wy. This time I noticed it happen during light acceleration uphill so next upgrade I was able to repeat it....light acceleration, rumbling noise, RPM's increased etc. AH-HA tranny slipping in
4th gear. Pulled on into Casper and the next morning bright & early I was at Coliseum Motors explaining my problem.....took the truck right in, checked it out.....need new tranny, got on the computer, located a new one in Denver, gave me back my truck and said would call when tranny was delivered. The next morning 9 am dealership called, new tranny just arrived come on in. 2:30 pm that afternoon I was back on the road. Truck has 43,000 miles......tranny techs opinion is that dealership in Dickenson, SD where I had the tranny serviced at 28,000 miles overtightened the bands causing the problems. I don't know enough about trannys to say yeah/neah nor do I care. What I liked was this dealerships attitude, response, follow-thru and that it didn't cost me a cent!!!!!! So if ever in Casper, Wy and you need Dodge, Chrysler and/or Jeep repairs.....go see Coliseum Motors.

I think that this community should definitely publish good dealer experiences. Good to hear about the great outcome, and definitely where to go if I have a problem out there!

How did you get your tranny replaced for free at 43K? I thought the warranty on your truck for non-Cummins stuff was 36K? Don't get me wrong - I'm glad to hear the dealer took care of you, but I was just curious...

Couldn't agree more. I think good dealership experiences should be told for all. I actually use a GMC dealership in my area (my waranty is long gone). The diesel machanic there is great with my truck and drives a Dodge himself.

The drivetrain warranty covers up to 100k miles. I forget the time limitation. The transmission is part of the drivetrain. That's why they covered it. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

On his 07, 36k miles is bumper to bumper, only the Cummins engine is warranted to 100K or 5 years, whichever comes first. Seems to me he must have bought an extended warranty that covered the drivetrain (transmission).

Maybe he'll chime back in and clarify.

I agree about posting about GOOD experiences at dealerships. The problem I have is that most of my good experiences have been at dealerships that are set to be closed down, usually the small town "mom and pop" dealerships that really take care of their customers because they don't depend on volume.

OK here's the deal on the free tranny replacement at 43K miles:
1) I do have an extended warranty 5yr/100,00 miles with $100 deductible
2) Didn't pay the $100 deductible because tranny service at 28k was done by Dodge dealership in Dickenson, ND and due to error by that dealerships tranny tech, bands were over-adjusted causing tranny to fail 14k miles later (according to tranny tech's opinion at Coliseum Motors in Casper, Wy.)
All I know is tranny was determined to be failing on Tuesday morning and was replaced for free on Wednesday afternoon which was fantastic because I travel fulltime RV'ing and am only in Casper, Wy for one week....leaving next Monday heading eastbound thru Nebraska, South Dakota etc. to New England States for fall colors.

OH Yeah!! Five dealerships are/have been closed down in Wyo. Which means that most Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep owners will have to go to Casper or Cheyenne for warranty repairs/services.....
