The only 5 speed auto's are behind a hemi. The 545rfe I think? NEVER ask a salesperson about drivetrain spec. They don't have a clue.

I know why the sticker says five speed auto on it...because someone screwed up. Either it has a Hemi with a five speed auto, or a Cummins with a 4 speed auto.

The guy you talked to at the carwash is wrong. there is absolutely no way that his Cummins has an OEM 5-speed auto behind it.

OK, I took a digital pic of the truck's window sticker and it can be viewed here:

(I'm not sure how to post pics here)

Photographic evidence of the sticker claiming the Cummins is mated to a 5 speed automatic.

Somebody screwed up while typing the sticker, but there it is, and they didn't take the sticker down.

Hey Goblin, welcome! That is not an original Dodge factory window sticker. That is a window sticker printed by the dealership that is selling the truck. Obviously the person at the dealership in charge of printing the window stickers made a mistake. If it's got a Cummins, and it's an auto, then it's a 4 speed, unless it's a 6.7L, then it's a 6 speed.

Thumbs down

That window sticker is a Sale`s Department Load of B/S.
That`s not the factory sticker.
Some salesman with an over active imagination made that up, and if you as a buyer don`t know any better. Shame on you... Buyer Beware..

The TQ shift, like the Allison and the new DC units, really has 6 gears. They just don't use them all in the same progression as the ratios are very close in what would be 4th and 5th.

Unfortunately, the 48RE is ONLY a 4 speed no matter what is typed on a window sticker or how misled the sales staff is. Try explaining the WHY to a salesman some time.

Reminds of the salesman that told the customer he could order a V10 CTD.....
