Truck is confused! Please Help!!
Truck is confused! Please Help!!
I just had a SkyJacker lift installed on my truck on Friday....and today when I started the truck I noticed that the 4WD indicator light in the instrument cluster was on even though the truck was not in engaged in 4 wheel drive. When I shift the transfer case into 4x4 high or even 4x4 low the 4WD indicator light goes out???? So basically....when the truck is in 2WD the 4WD indicator light comes on.....when the truck is in 4WD the 4WD indicator light is off. What the heck is going on???? Thanks for your help.

Rigg4x4
Re:Truck is confused! Please Help!!
This is usually the indicator light switch on the transfer case. The lift changed the geometry of the lever and makes the switch read incorrectly. You should be able to adjust the switch.
Take it back to whoever installed the lift. They should know about this issue and probably forgot.

Disclaimer:
I may be incorrect here, after looking at the transfer case on my 99. I cannot see a switch on the lever, but I CAN see vaccum hose going into the transfer case over where the lever goes into it. These vacuum hose are probably for engagement of the 4 wheel drive, but may also have something to do with the indicator light. Look for disconnected vacuum hose under there.

You can still take it back to whoever installed it because they didn't adjust it, or accidentally disconnected the vacuum lines.

Chris
Re:Truck is confused! Please Help!!
There should be a plug right on the axle by the CAD. Maybe it got unpluged when you installed the lift and connected backwards upon reinstall?

The plug on the connector is gone on mine so no lights at all. To lazy to replace it yet.

Looks like you need another leaf in the back.
(could be angle of photo though)
Had my 4.5 installed last Friday
Most of it is Skyjacker, but local lift shop "customizes" the commercial available lifts, and makes them better (?).
Mixing parts here, matching parts there, etc.
Is that the dual shock system in the front there?
I was thinking about that, maybe an upgrade in the future as the springs settle in.
Nice looking truck, not too many lifted duallys running around out there.

Re:Truck is confused! Please Help!!
Thanks phox. Yeah...I have the dual shocks in the front and actually my truck is going back to the shop next week to get the rear lifted a little more so the truck sits level. You have a good looking truck by the way. Take care.

Rigg4x4
