high egts, Loss of Power

ok here is the story. I have had my camper 5 years pulling with this truck. I've never had a problem pulling my camper until this year. I though it could have been fuel related (old fuel) but every time I pulled this year seems to have higher egts that years past & not the power I had before. Earlier this year I change the exhaust system to a 5" cat back. I thought that this would drop egts not raise them. I think that this problem may have been before I changed the exhaust. I only notice a big problem when I'm towing. the other wierd thing I noticed is when I used to sit stop at a light my egts used to sit at 400 deg. now it will starts there and raise to 500 while i'm sitting at a light. I'm looking for some insite on this problem so I know where to start. the truck only has about 49000 miles on it. Also another side note when i'm towing and pushing the truck I would used to get some good black smoke. I'm getting none. Is this injectors, catalytic converter, torque converter?? Is this something someone can find hooking it up to a diagnostics computer?

Thanks for any input.

Check your LP pressure at the CP-3. Symptoms could indicate a loss rail pressure. If you haven't updated the LP might be time.

only 49000 miles on my truck. The biggest problem is that I woun't really know until about April- May of next to see if this is fixed because I put my camper in storage for the winter. My big question is why did both of these pumps have to be replaced? Did my MP-8 controller have something to do with it? The truck seems alittle more responsive not huge or anything.

LP goes bad and it starves the IP a little at a time. Low fuel pressure at the CP-3 translates to robbing cooling\lube fuel to maintain rail pressure, cavitation in the CP-3 gear rotor pump from low suppply pressure hammers the drive shaft and spits metal fragments into the pump and eventually the injectors.

Yours is a perfect case that CP-3's are NOT made to draw their own fuel thru the lines on a Dodge or damage and failure will ensue.

Directly no, indirectly maybe. The MP-8 raises rail pressure to the injectors. Theoretically it COULD contribute but over working the CP-3 IF it was starved for fuel. That would be the indirect contribution and is pretty tought to prove or even document.

More than likely, time and a weak LP is what did the pump in. The MP-8 is a good compromise as long as you don't go over about 20% for long periods of time. The boost fooling and extra pressure help with efficiency but too much pressure will kill the injectors.
