hi/lo sulphur fuel

We have an 06 2500 4x4. I can't take too much more of this 3.38 per gallon fuel price. I'm driving around with a 90 gallon transfer tank full of off road hi sulphur in the back, used for wheel loaders and bobcats....... You can probally see where this thread is going......... The Dodge owners manual says that the warantee is voided if hi sulphur is used. If some of this .40 cent a gallon cheaper fuel was ACCIDENTALLY pumped into the truck, what are the negative effects? We do most of our own maintenance ,if there's a warantee issue, it goes to the dealer, I'd change the filter before going in and run regular pump fuel for a couple days before. On our '94 cat powered dump trucks, the shop guy says, lo sulphur isnt too good so we put atf in the tank.Anyway any one have an opinion ? Thanks, Hugh

The negative effects won't be your engine but you will, if your dipped.

If you can plumb the fuel system to bypass the main tank of non dyed (legal) diesel and hide the plumbing, er-- use the red stuff when you are offroad, yea, thats the ticket. hehe

the only danger is if you were to get pulled over while towing for a safety inspection or to get weighed and they looked and found the wrong color in your tank. also if you were to get into an accident and when state police showed up they saw something amiss with the color of the fuel you were leaking.

Just remember on the new trucks with the emissions control system high sulfur will destroy the system. Just like the old leaded fuel ruins catalytic convertors on gassers.

Dice

The only thing you might wreck on your truck is the catalytic converter. If you are going to dispose of this fuel because you no longer have an appropriate piece of equipment to run it in, oh well, run it in your truck and fill the tank with road fuel. If you go and buy another tank of died fuel, to save money, and you get dipped, well you're gonna think $4 or $5/gal is cheap, and you may walk funny for awhile too. Tax evasion I believe it's called. Hey, didn't you guys kick the English out so you didn't have to pay taxes?!?!?! (Sorry, couldn't resist) (Don't worry, any taxes you pay, we canuks pay more) Only you can decide if you have the stones to throw those dice. (You might actually be throwing your stones, instead of the dice.) Oh yeah, tell the mechanic that the fuel is just fine in that cat powered truck.

I was refering to the new 6.7 with the exaust scrubber and new emissions stuff. High sulfur won't hurt the cat as long as all you have is a cat.
