Help with VIN decoding

Is there anywhere I can go to decode a VIN? I'm trying to figure out if this '04 I'm looking at is a 555 or 600 motor.

Is there any way to tell by looking at a pic of the motor?

Thx
Jim

Here is a pic of the engine - not sure if it means anything or not.

Look right on that front sticker of the block that is pictured. It will have all the info of your engine.

..***Woops, my mistake, thought you took the pic*** Sorry

Hahaha - I know - but this truck is quite a distance from me and the sales-chick is clueless. I've asked her twice to look at that sticker but she hasn't responded yet. I just want to figure out if it's a 555 or 600.

Will the VIN tell me?

OK - what's wrong with this picture? Here is the reply I got from her after asking for the information off the stamp.

"There are 610 lbs. of torque in this truck. The in service date on this
truck is Jan. 6, 2004"

Now - as far as I know the 610 motor is an '05 - correct? I think they are probably lying to me thinking that I am stupid - and that I'd jump at the biggest number they could find (prob from a current Dodge website).

An in-service date of 1/'04 "should" be a 555 - no?

Wow this is frustrating. Can anyone decode a VIN for me?

The 305/555 H.O.'s ceased as of 10/04 (EPA or Torque war w/Ferd/GM), became the 325/600, then became the 325?/610 with updated ECM flash programming (to cure poor MPG). The 04.5 has the 600 > 610 (Dodge still refers to it a a 600). It might be tough to find a brand new 04 H.O. (305/555). Why so bent on a 555?
