Help A Newby Change NV5600 Fluid

I'm getting ready to change the fluid in my NV5600 6 speed relativeley soon. I have heard that the existing fluid can be changed by loosening the bottom couple bolts on the pto cover on each side. Has any body done this? Is there going to be more oil that I'll need to sump out? Can I re-tighten the bolts, or do I need a new gasket? Thoughts will be greatly appreciated. 45,000 miles right around the corner, fluids have not been changed yet. Thanks,

Well I can tell you what I did. Remove bottom PTO bolt to drain almost all of the fluid out. Remove the rest of the PTO bolts and remove cover. using rags soak up the rest of fluid. Retrieve magnetfrom transmition and whipe off the metalic sludge that has accumulated. I reassembled cover useing black RTV. Put in all of the bolts except the top one. Fill through the top bolt and reinstall bolt. I do not know if this is the approved way to do this but it has worked for me.

I usually jack up the driver side a little then remove the bottom pto bolt and drain the fluid, make sure the fluid is warm first.make sure you get the right fluid. I use the amsoil myself. just put a little thread tape on the bolt before you put it back.

Did anyone use the fill plug to refill the fluid. I realize that it requires a quite large hex key or allen wrench?

I also heard on some other boards that there is a need to overfill by one to two quarts... Whats recomened? I would assume filling to the bottom of the fill plug would be adequate as with any other tranny, t case or diff.

I have 6 qts of Amsoil MTF in mine. Filled through the top PTO cover bolt hole.
