on the way home today, 100km each way driving at 120km/hr cruise control, and i hear a loud thud and puff of black smoke from front of truck. truck seems fine but i have lost o/d. pull over to check her out. tranny oil is burnt and gritty with metal shavings. make it home no prob just no o/d. truck drives just fine around town.

cannot get truck to transmission shop until mon. need transport to work until then. will take wifes and she can have mine for around town.

a little history - tranny went 18 mths ago. everything but gears
- same prob 4 mths later, but now they put it back together wrong and they wreck something in o/d. they fix it.
- everything but gears again about 8 mths ago.
- all that was replaced under the warranty i got from first tranny


guess my question is. do you guys think i still have some kinda warranty and what the heck gives with these trannys i keep getting

i much rather take my truck to work because i kinda need it. should i until it is fixed? probably not, eh? thanks

 

One might say the driver has something to do with the trans failure

 

Whomever built it also.It does NOT need to be driven period,even to the shop.Is trans a 47re or a 48re?Just curious.
