Tranny Fluid Change in NV5600
Tranny Fluid Change in NV5600
I was wondering how many of you guys are using Amsoil series 3000 5w-30 in the NV5600. I can't find any Redline MTL at any of the local parts stores but I can find some of the Amsoil. I was going to try either one, but since I can find the Amsoil I wanted some more info from those that are using it; is it worth it, are the shifts noticebly smoother, etc. Some input from guys using the Amsoil would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Motor oil in the NV5600? After the recent discussions on synchronizer issues in that transmission, I wouldn't risk it despite all the the testimonials for Amsoil. (And I'm sure they're sincere.) IMO only.

Redline MTL has better specs than the Texaco/Shell MTX lube recommended by NVG. Solves the 2nd to 3rd gear grind, too. And NVG has admitted that the only reason they recommend Texaco/Shell MTX is because of a corporate decision only to use that oil.

Put the Amsoil 5W-30 HDD in my NV5600 with 5000 miles on the odometer. Now I have almost 64K on it and it shifts like a dream. I also have quite a few towing miles on the Ram as well, tow a 34' triple slide 5'er. I certainly have confidence in this product.

I had a bad expeirence with Redline MTL. I changed the oil and put Redline MTL back in with a bottle of Pro-Long to see if it'll change anything. It seems fine for now but last time I changed the oil it didn't look good for the syncros.

You know , the best thing to put in your nv 5600 is what the dealer sells ... i got mine for about 7.75 a quart ....then then there`s no problems ( i put in an extra quart & solved my shifting problems)
