Help on fuel problems
I have a buddy that started a hotshot service in South Alabama.Well in the last month three of his diesel trucks have gone down.Same thing in every case gel in fuel filter ,injectors and pump.So far its running around $800 per
truck to get it fixed.Any suggestions ? Theres no warranty to cover this.
It seems the new fuel is really growing algea and thats the problem.Has anyone else run into this ?If so remedy please ! Dealer says its not their problem, its ours .Can anything be done ?

Yes,hes running power service.
I think thats irrelivant tho. They are hot shotting and filling up at least once aday, sometimes twice.I think he pumped the trash from a service station.
I suggested that to him and he checked around. He found several others that went down the same day after fueling there.Any remedy ?

If the fuel was bad keep the reciept from that station and have them cover repairs for bad fuel. You don't have a fight without a fuel sample from that station and get it initialed by the manager and send it in for testing. If bad they should cover it. Other than that all you can do is run addativies. Also could drain tanks and fill up with new fuel from other station.
If he has algae growing in his tank then he needs to use and Algaecide to kill it off or drop the tank and have it cleaned out if they have alot of it in them. Also like it was posted above if he kept his fuel reciepts he should go back to the station and get them to pay for the repair bill for his trucks.

I had the problem you described in my 96'Dodge CTD 12 valve ONCE! I got some bad fuel going from the east coast to Denver a few years ago. Truck started running bad, but never actually quit. My first suspicion was bad fuel as you stated. Took off my fuel filter, and had a black looking gel, tar-like *****, debris falling out of the filter etc. Then went to the fuel strainer/filter near the mechanical lift pump, same stuff found there. I ended up having to get to a diesel sho where we dropped the tank, drained all the fuel from the tank,
cleaned the tank and added an additive called "Racor Anti-Algae/Fungicide Treatment." Poured that in with the new (clean) diesel fuel and have not ever had the problem again. Since then I have begun using "Stanadyne Performance Formula" and I REALLY watch where I buy from #2 from now!
Also, keep those fuel filters changed! I do mine every single oil change and IMO it is cheap insurance to avoid the problems with this fuel nowadays.
Good luck to you guys. I know the garbage in some of this diesel fuel is darn hard to get out! Luckily, it happened in my Cummins 12 valve and NOT this new 06' Dodge CTD CR I have now!
