help 04.5 problems
Went to the dealer today with a code p0251. hey said I need a $2100 injector pump and recomend a $967 fuel supply pump upgrade plus labor.
I went to another place they said they would try changeing the lift pump and see if it works first.
When this code comes on I will be driving along and the truck acts like someone shut it off for like 2 seconds then the check engine light comes on. Seems to keep running fine after that.
This is the 3rd time the light and code have came on in 6000 miles.
(The darn hydro boost started to leak in the cab around the plunger on a side note. ) Might be time to trade!!!! Any advice

P0251 CP3 Pump Regulator Control
so I'm assuming (someone else can chime in) something with your cp3 is not working correctly.
when I had issues similar to yours it was P0628, my lift pump.
I don't think that changing your lift pump will solve your problem, because it's your cp3 that's not working. The cp3, which is part of your fuel system, (again, I'm not a mechanic) is an interface between the fuel coming from your lift pump (once it gets to the engine compartment) and your fuel injectors.
to find codes on your own, I remember correctly, you turn your truck from the off position to on, not start, three times and then wait in the 'on' position. the following link is the explanation of all the codes. go to the dealer armed with knowledge and you'll be better off.

good luck.
