HE351 onto a 2003

I've got a line on a HE351 turbo from a 2005 truck that I want to put on my 2003. I want it mainly for lower EGTS when towing, will I see a difference?

Is there anything else I need other than the turbo? Down pipe? The truck is being parted out so I want to everything I'll need.

Thanks!

Turbo

You looking to buy the 05 turbo or already have it?

I have a Piers modified taken off my 2003 at 70K (modified at 40K). I now run a Garrett. The mod is good to +60HP and helps keep EGTs down. Here is the link.

It would be a drop in with no mods required. Been sitting in my garage for a while with the intent to post to sell. I would take $400 for it (the mod alone is $600 plus core). Let me know if that would interest you.

The HE351 is a direct bolt on except for a few minor things. You need the longer stud bolts to go on exhaust manifold as the flange of the HE351 is thicker than the HE341. The shorter stud bolts need to be on the new (to you) turbo. For a cleaner look the electronic waste control should be removed and plugged. Here is a link to how some have done the swap,

It's a great mod. If possible, also get the cast elbow with the clamp for the downpipe, 4" downpipe, and full 4" exhaust from the donor truck. All that will help you get the most from the swap. I left the electronic wastegate solenoid in my turbo and just put a clamp on the hose leading to the wastegate. Works great!!!

dodgezilla you should remove the clamp. the turbo life will be shortened. it is best to hook the solenoid up to a 12 volt ignition hot wire this will give 32 psi opening. we cut ours into and make it mechanical

The turbo is not beaten on as my truck is only slightly modified. I am not concerned about hurting my turbo when it rarely ever sees 30 psi. The clamp will stay there until it rots away and falls off.......
