Question have a question

can some one send me the link to the thread on how to check for codes by turning the key in the truck or how ever you do it. i sall it a few week ago and i cant seem to fined it now

Put the key in and turn off and on three times rapidly without actually starting the engine and the milage display will give you the codes ..

If you're wanting to check the codes on your 2005 3500, it won't work like that. The check with the key only works on OBD I. I think 1997 was the first year for OBD II on diesels and '96 was the first year for a gas. Autozone and other stores will read your code for you. You can get your own reader. The cheapest I've seen is $50 at Autozone and you can easily go up to $250 or more, depending on what you want to do with the reader.

Some do, some don't for some reason. My buddy's truck is an 07.5, it won't, but my wife's is an 08 (gasser) it will.

Sometimes you have to turn the key 4x before it will do it.

My 05 will do it with the 3 quick cycles of the ingnition. If there are no codes present it simply states "Done"

well i will let yall know when i get the chance to do it to my 05 i did it to my mom's 07 3500 megacab and it worked she had no codes it just flashed done.
