Guess its fully synthetic.BUT the group three oils can say that also these days. You could track it back and found out if its a group three or four.Group four full synthetics usually are pricey.

so any suggestions?
Forgive me for being sarcastic, but if her tranny does fail, what's the dealer going to do to confirm whether it's Mopar or not,........a taste test?

Or are they going to spend well over $1K for a lab to break it down to it's molecular components and compare it to the molecular composition of Mopar stuff. Do you think the owner or any tech at the dealer knows what the molecular composition of Mopar ATF+4 really is? Not likely! All they know is red is good, and brown is something wrong. Answer to any of their questions: "Whatever you guys put in, that's what it is."

from what i was told anytime there is a tranny or internal gear faliure, they send the oil off to do an oil analysis

not sure if its just lies to get u to use thier products, or if true since the owners manual doesnt says use atf+4 or equivalant like some do. i do know dodge is VERY picky with warranty claims

Havoline now makes an ATF 4. Seen it today at the Rural King.

If it was my tranny I would run some regular ole general purpose ATF fluid. The +4 part is just an additive package for the auto transmission.

Thats bunk.Dealers I guess COULD send oil/fluids out for testing but I bet most dealers don't have a clue where to send it.

I bet it depends on the dealer too. Some are probably more likely to send it out than others. On a side note, CARSON DODGE in Carson City, NV ( Very well respected dealer on these forums) INSTALLS AMSOIL products themselves. I was worried about adding my PAC BRAKE and not the MOPAR variety as for warranty. Then I got the names of s few DEALERS nationwide who install them. Would use that if I ever needed it.,

Most decent dealers are not trying to find ways to not do a warranty repair no matter how big.If it obvious what caused a failure and it was abuse, after market parts thats one thing. But if its a gray area or for sure a defect it just gets fixed.Last dealer I worked for we saw 60 plus vehicles a day.Warranty made up about 10% total volume of repairs.

Don't tighten the plug by the blue line. It's a factory mark to indicate the plug has been checked for tightness. NickBeek is probably right, it's the shifter shaft seal, the oil runs down the side and then drips off the bottom. Look from the TOP, through the engine compartment, on the passenger side at the top of the tranny and see if it's black, and dirty. If it is, it's the shifter shaft seal.
