Fuel Problems
Fuel Problems
04 Dodge R3500 4x4 5.9C Customer brought vechile to me with driveability problems...poor performance noticied driving into shop the engine missing horribly bad. Checked codes only one present P2509. Customer then stated that he had added Red Diesel to the truck in a emergency situation and this is when the poor performance started my question is what affect if any does this have on this motor? Thanks
They may or may not be related , P2509 = CM/PCM power input signal intermittent , fuse or relay issue , may be older that the driveabillty issue .
The off road fuel may have been contaminated , drain some out of filter in clean glass container to see .
If is run long with that issue , it can cause damage .

I got a tank of bunk fuel that caused intermittent missing (down one cylinder) and generally crappy performance. It cleared up completely after a couple tanks of good fuel. Crazy thing was I drained my fuel filter and found NO water or even cloudy fuel. No clue on the code.
The only issue with offroad fuel is it tends to sit for a while. It is no where as fresh as a high volume station. Tractors and off road equipment usually are not to picky about what they burn. LOL I run on road fuel in my tractor. Never can make it to my off road fueling station because they are closed on Saturday. My tractors fuel filter did plug up also not long later causeing a miss at working rpm's. Changed the filter and no problems since.
