Fuel leak...

I noticed this evening some drips under my new baby. Checked and it's diesel fuel. After searching for a few minutes it appears to be coming from this black canister mounted on the fuel filter housing since it's soaked with diesel. Looks like some type of electric pump.
Anyone else seen this problem?

Thanks

MikeyB

Mikeyb

Sorry About what you found with Diesel leaking I have not had no problems yet with fuel leaking where you described. Take it back to dealer let them fix it 5yr 100,000 mile warranty or the 3 yr 36,000 mile warranty want cost you nothing.

Re:Fuel leak...

Luckly it's not leaking bad (yet), just a few drops on the ground. I did notice the mounting bolts wasn't very tight, so I retorqued them. I'll keep an eye on it for few days and see what happens.
While I was under the truck I noticed the beautiful patina rust red on the tranny case and driveshaft. I guess Dodge is trying to save a few cents....... :

MikeyB

I'm with you on the rust red tranny and drive shaft. They also skimmped on the steering mechanisim. Go figure. Soon as our rain lets up and it's warm again in sunny south carolina. I'll get under there and solve that with a nice can of silver rustoleum.

I also have no leaks.

Re:Fuel leak...

Thanks for the info Nevada. I hope the '03 won't have the dreaded lift pump issues as the earlier model. And from the design it will appear to be a dealer only item.
Knock on wood, hasn't leaked since retorquing the mounting bolts.

MikeyB
