found leak spots??
i was just under my truck tonight looking for any leaking and i found two spots. a big one here on a bell type housing from the trannie i believe?? between the trannie fluid pan and the oil pan. and also a sticky type of substance coming from something above the driveshaft that has an orange tab with a pull loop thingy on it. does anyone know what im talking about? if so help. sorry for the lack of knowledge on these things, trying to learn... ill try to attach an image i just took, its not that great...

hey mine is comming from the same place, I had the transmission input seal replaced. (red fluid leaking). I also still have an oil leak from the same area. check your oil filter and make sure it isnt leaking first, I suspect the rear mains on some of these trucks are leaking yet the dealers wont replace them unless it makes a real mess. keep us posted and I will also, my dealer put dye into the crank case to find out were the leak is comming from. good luck

My truck was leaking from the lower vavle cover or rocker housing gasket and gathered oil there. It ran down the side of the trans/engine block and the back of the bellhousing.

I have a small oil leak coming from the driver side of the oil pan. Looks like it's dripping out of a black breather hose or something. Anyone else have this and is it normal?

That is the blow-by/beather hose...it will spray some oil all over the side of the oil pan, bell housing, and even the front of the tranny pan. If you look real close, I bet that is the cause of the so called leak. I can wipe mine all clean towards the ned of an oil change interval and it will stay that way for weeks. I don't think it is from a leak so to speak.

I only notice the small drops of oil on the floor after the truck sits for a day or two. Is this typical? I don't have any oil spray on the oil pan or the tranny pan.

Mines been leaking there as well from the day I got it, I've had it at the dealer for this problem once before and they said it was just blow-by, but that wasn't it I brought it back in the other day and they found that the valve cover gasket is leaking and the rocker cover gasket. So they are in the process of replacing them both. I ended up putting a total of 2 quarts of oil in over about 2500 miles and it just didn't seem right.
