I usually see this happen also. Thicker oil then what was in there due to being used causes the pump to work harder to push it along. Hence the higher pressure.

When I see my gauge less then the normal readings, I know the oil is starting to get dirty. Sure enough, just about 5000 miles I have noticed.

Just curious....Are you guys using the factory oil pressure gauge or a real oil pressure gauge?

I asked the question a while ago & got several answers, but nothing definitive: Is there a pressure difference between the stratopore & regular oil filter?

Thanks!

Tony

Unfortunately, still using the factory thing in the dashboard. I haven't purchased a true gauge for the oil.

Not sure if different pressure though I would think it could be possible as the oil needs to go through a finer material making it harder to push. just my .02 though.

I'm wondering how you can get a different reading from the stock "gauge" when it really isn't reading the oil pressure but is driven by the computer to indicate a logical reading. My understanding is the readings are just what makes sense but not what it actually is. Just a programmed reading.

I haven't truely checked the exact setting on the factory gauge but it seems to be a tad lower after miles get on the oil. Then when replaced, it seems to be higher or back to what I usually see.

Granted though, factory is not a real gauge, what drives those numbers I do not know. Fuel and Oil pressure gauges are someday in the budget plan.

maybe it is getting alittle thin from the fuel in the oil?

I wondered if puting in twelve quarts was too much.....I did change the filter and let the oil drain for a while........just a thought....it reads on the dip stick at the very top of the safe mark
