First leak!

I was installing the Putco nerf bars this weekend and notice some red fluid on 2 lines that ran from the engine to the trans. It might just be on one line but was hard to tell. Hopefully just a fitting loose. Boy I have taking it to the dealer already! :-[

Re:First leak!

My 03 with the 48re is leaving a nice little puddle of "red" fluid in my garage or wherever I stop after running for awile. I crawled under the truck to take a look and the bottom of the transmission an is coated with fluid. I also have a small oil leak that's coming from the drivers side of the engine....maybe coming from the breather. Either way, a new truck shouldn't be leaving a mark. I'll be taking it to the ******* tomorrow. Good luck.

My 03 just started leaking the red stuff 2 wks ago seems to be coming from the front of the tranny under the ring gear inspection plate--is this warranted?

There was a tranny cooler line recall put out a few months ago. Check to see if your trucks are involved.

Yep. There is a recall on these. Mine had 600 miles on it and just started to come out of the hose where the crimp was. The recall states that the tranny hose is not crimped correctly. Must be removed and crimped with a new attachment. Recall was issued in March 04, I beileve.

Went to the dealer today --about 5 hours later service tech. called me and said the 48re had to come out --he thinks the pump is leaking Mind you all this truck has 5200 miles on it and already had the recall performed and its not leaking on the right side of the motor lie some of the other members---it is coming from the ring gear inspection plate only--anyone else?

Diff leak

Well I picked up my new 04.5 last Thursday and yesterday I noticed a small leak coming from the filler cap on the diff. My dealer says the filler plug is cross threaded and a new cover plate is on order.

It had less than 400 miles on it....... Built 5/12/04

Check your diff filler plug.

cheers f
