EGTs when Traveling

I posted this in the performance section but thought it might be appropriate in this section.

See sig below for the setup of my truck. I currently don't have gauges and wasn't planning on installing them because I don't plan on do any mods other than what I currently have and I don't tow very often (if I do tow, it is around 5k lbs max). In addition, my current mods should help keep down the EGTs. Last week I took my truck up to 80 MPH and my RPMs were approximately 2300-2400. My question is this, would running my engine at this RPM or even higher (i.e. around 2600 RPM if I was to go 90 mph) for an extended time cause excessive heat or potentially damaging heat? Of course I wouldn't tow at this speed, but unloaded or with a minimal load (500 to 1,000 lbs in the bed), I would most likely travel between 75 to 85 mph on long trips between states.

No, you won't have problems with high EGT at high RPM running light. With the stock fueling curve, high RPM is your friend when it comes to keeping EGT down. And don't worry about the high RPM being bad for the engine, they are designed to be able to run at full RPM indefinitely. In a medium duty application these engines are usually at max RPM at 65 mph, so what you're doing is no big deal.

DO whatever the book says for maintenance. DO let the truck idle for a couple minutes before shutdown. DON'T baby the truck. DON'T worry about the engine. DO drive the wheels off it and have fun.
