Smile FYI Espar coolant heaters...

I called Espar the other day to ask them about finding an installer in my area and they said that in about 6 months, Dodge is going to offer Espar coolant heaters as a dealer installed option.

The timing is good for me because I'm not buying until Fall.

Thats awsom. I just bought a new truck this past week and asked abought having them install it if I bought one. Then I couldent find a dealer. I couldent even find the Espar web site. I had been there a few times in the past but now the site I went to did not work. Now I will just go to my dealer and check on it come fall.

The website is www.espar.com

They have a dealer/installer locater on their website. I tried that but didn't find one close enough to me, so I called them to make sure there were none closer.

The Espar guy told me Dodge dealers were going to offer the heaters as options in about six months.

All the better for me.

Unfortunately the dealer will charge at least twice as much as you can get one for now. Sort of like when they sell Cummins parts.

Not necessarily.

At least with the dealer you can haggle.

The Espar will be an option and like all other options it should be easy for them to heavily discount.

Also, it'd be easy to get another quote from any aftermarket installer, and you can use that to get an even better deal from the Dodge dealer.

The guy at Espar said it would be something under $1500.00, but he didn't know exactly.

Thanks,Scotty....kinda figured they'd be expensive, it'll have to go to the bottom of the Christmas Wish List, behind : box, exhaust,Ram Air III,gauges,Pod, boards,SRT-10 Hood and o ya, a Mopar to put into my trailer...after all I really should pull something with my truck!

For 1500 bucks I wonder whether it would be feasible to buy a generator to run the block heater? This way you might have a generator if you needed it?? Dunno just a thought. 1500 bucks for a block heater (really) is kinda steep. But I guess one no start in the middle of nowhere would pay for itself.

Yeah Spots that is possible.

Buy one of those small super quiet generators, but it still would be bigger than one of these heaters and too big to fit under the hood like the Espar.

Plus you can't operate it remotely from the kitchen while sipping a cup of java!

The Espar is a very expensive way to get longer life out of the engine, and make it more comfortable to drive during the cold months.

I bought the complete 5W model for just under $1K. This is a do-it-yourself project though as they don't have a kit for the third gen Dodges. I think it will definately be money well spent in the colder climates.

Just took delivery of the new ride and had an Arctic Remote put into it for $600 Cdn. Has a range of almost a mile, delay start for the grid heaters, turbo cool down timer, and cold weather start every 3 hours. It's also a two way system that confirms the truck has started and lets you know if your alarm goes off. Money well spent IMO.
