Cummins Machanics Help!

This truck has been pretty good to me unlike most others for the KM on it, 250,km 6 injectors, the odd ball joint, u-joint and now more injector problems?? I bought brand new ones with 90hp tips on them last January so there just over a year old, have the Fass on there with the proper filters and 14psi at idle. its a 95/95 pump now when i go to start the dang thing it smokes blue and idles rough sometimes in the mornings and sometimes misses or backfires ( it sounds like) on the highway when i tramp on er? is this the case of another set of injectors? or one, or two or god for bid three or more??? it only does it sometimes i've put in injector cleaner on mostly every fill-up (Lucious diesel injector cleaner). whats my best soloution to solve this problem or just get to the bottom of this? iam up for any ideas. i don't think i can afford to take it to the dealer so iam doing this myself.
help me out please!
thanks in advance.

Besides an injector or two intemittenly hanging up I don't know what else it could be. Sorry, thats some crappy luck. Maybe try some F-1's?

I'd say that's probably at least part of the problem, right there.

The problem with buying rebuilt injectors is they are USED. Very few places actually replace the injector barrel and internal parts. The just check them for the obvious problems, check operation for in spec, and call it good.

Sounds like you need to pull them again and have them checked and possibly rebuilt.

A bit of blue at start up isn't a big deal. As long as it clears as it warms up I wouldn't worry about it much. As to the miss when you step into it (and probably the rough idle) , sounds like an injector to me. I would check every electrical connection you can find before anything else though. Loose connection, moisture, chaffed grounds, PITA process but a good starting point. Next, assuming good air and fuel filters, check intercooler and hose cracks or leaks, fuel leaks, the easy (and inexpensive) stuff.

Personally, I generally don't agree with wholesale injector replacement unless you want bigger tips or specific upgrade. DC uses rebuilt injectors so you get ones that failed before. You could give up perfectly good ones for someone else's crap. Injectors can fail, yes, but unless there was a reason to suspect widespread damage (fuel contamination, etc) fix the faulty one and keep the rest. They are an electro-mechanical part and many give 100's of thousands of miles service without a problem and some fail. JMHO.

Search the site for injector test procedures and fix the bad one only. Hope it works out OK for you.

Good luck.

We'll when purchaced these injectors from Dynomite Diesel they told me their covered under a 3 year warranty these ones were not remans just brand new out of the box Bosch injectors with their 90hp tips on them.

But, say it is just one...and i take the manifold off to check this. if i called up and ordered another brand new one from them would it work? i was always told that it has to have something to do with the return rate..? i never understood what this meant.

2 stroke is a lubricity add in a maintenance regimen to reduce long-term wear - accelerated wear that could result from things like bad fuel or excessive dosing of solvent-based cleaners.
