My knocking sound video of new engine.....

Ill try and post a sound clip video of my truck idling at 750 rpm. Its the rebuilt one i spent a pile of money on. Its intermittent it comes and goes. Usually when truck warms up it goes away.Sometimes i dont hear it at all. i only hear it from front fan/grill area. when i climb ontop of engine I cant hear it tick like that......im puzzled.

I would remove serp belt from water pump, you can run engine for a few minutes at low engine rpm without doing any harm. If you can't hear the noise anymore then it's not internal engine related. Possible fan bearing or idler pulley bearing.

I just had an Engine swap in my 04 and it does the same thing! I turn the air select **** on "Face/Feet" off of Defrost-Defrost/Feet(so the A/C doesn't engage) and it goes away. Never did that before the swap...

Check your valve lash?

How many miles on the rebuild now?

Man! You just have all the luck, don't you? Maybe the valves need adjusting....

That is a mechanical clicking, external to the engine.

First thing to check, is for black tape that wraps wiring, ticking on the ends of the fan blades, can be intermittent.

Next, watch for same kind of thing being blown around by air as it is moved by the fan.

Then, remove the fan belt, and spin the various pulleys. You might find that tick in the alternator, or the tensioner. A/C is possible, but not as likely.

The water pump will make a ticking noise like that, but normally with a bit deeper tone.

I agree with pind it does sound external, how new are the injectors could it be them or a loose fuel line clamp

x3, that sounds like a waterpump, or accessory pulley noise.

injectors are new also. its a rebuilt long block with new stock bosch injectors. everything on engine is new except for CP3, manifolds/turbo, and i think my flywheel and oil pan. all else is new.544 km on rebuid now. the thing is its gone after 5-10 seconds. thats not long enough for anything to warm up. i dont hear it ontop just infront of fan/shroud area

Valve lash. be super cautious and set them. Some people dont get the engine in the right "spot" to adjust each valve. If that isn't it then I would look for an exhaust leak at the head.
