coolant or oil in air cleaner?

I am getting a dirty air cleaner from what appears to be coolant leaking in to the air box. The dust and dirt then cakes to the filter (napa gold)This happens after long road trips. I have put a hose clamp on the over flow coolant line with no improvment. The truck is a 05,2500,lwb,4x4,6spd. thanks, L.M.

Pull the air box and ck the entire line all the way from the Radiator to the Overflow bottle... Is there any dried coolant on the TOP of the air filter cover?

Is it definitely coolant or could it just be water? My stock air box had a bunch of water pooled in the bottom when I first removed it to install an AFE. Just a thought.

It is for sure not water, I am pretty sure it is coolant the dust sticks to it and it is sticky when you wipe it off and yes their is some residue on the top of the air box around the joint between the top and bottom. Its getting sucked into the air cleaner from the joint or through the inlet in the fender.thanks for any help.

If you have clamped the return hose that would be my first thought. It is most likely getting sucked in from the fender. Can a water pump sned coolant up there at HWY speeds maybe?

Thats what I was wondering is if I have a coolant leak in a head plug or the water pump. It could be a pin hole in the overflow line and I will check that first. I remember reading somewhere that one of the coolant plugs on the passenger side is prone to leaking. Anyone Know of a common coolant leak area? Thanks, L.M.

My return hose can off a while back soaking the BHAF. No more problems after I installed a clamp.

A pin hole in the overflow shouldn't leak as it isn't a pressurized line. I would think you may be getting a small leak where it attached to the radiator and is just running down the hose and on to the air cleaner. Check to make sure it is on and maybe apply a clamp. It is easy to bump or pull on the hose during servicing.
