Air Filter Cleaner And Oil
Are they all the same regardless of brand? I think my local store carries K&N but i have AIRAID. I will have to special order if i want the AIRAID. Curios to know about that. How many services can you get out of one kit? $12 or so per kit will i get more than one cleaning and re-oil out of that?

I have always used a mild dish liquid and warm water, let it dry and then hit the motorcycle store for oil. You can get a larger can of oil at a bike shop than buying a kit for K&N. just don't over oil it! LOL

Spray oil is the easiest way to do it. Just do a light coat and let it sit 5-10 min. then hit the white or light pink spots again. You do not want to soak the filter in oil, that is a very common mistake.

Many, many guys have told me that K&N is junk and that all of the oil gets pulled through and onto the turbo.
If you oil it right, lightly, just like the above statements, the K&N oil works great.
You can get two or three cleanings out of the K&N kit. Well worth it.
I used to race motocross and yeah, the Bel Ray filter oil is awesome, and sticky, but it is a pain to apply to a wire meshed stiff filter. And the K&N cleaner works awesome, better than gasoline did on my dirtbike filters. The day I discovered that I called all my riding buddies and told them to buy K&N cleaner just to make filter cleaning less of a bear.
Dish soap, simple green, gasoline, carb cleaner, it all works, but just buy the kit, it works great!

Let your filter dry before you apply oil, sunny days are great! Just apply the K&N cleaner, let it sit 5-10 min, then hose off the filter. Hit soiled areas really quick with the cleaner, then hose immediately, shake off filter, and let her dry for 30 min in the sun. Apply light coat of oil, let it soak for 10 min, and like already said, hit the white and light pink areas with a touch more spray and install.

That stuff is NASTY! I put it in a zip-lock bag when I oil the foam filters so I dont get it on my hands. It takes gas or Varsol to get that stuff off. I have a few pair of riding gloves that got ruined inside from that stuff.
